Somehow I got the crazy idea that I could take my family on a camping trip and have it be enjoyable. So far in the preparation, it has been on the border of insanity. My wife is working so I have to get all the stuff ready while watching four children. The boys decided that it was ok to become little monsters and take up most of my time leaving me little to get things ready for our trip.
I haven't been camping in at least 13 years so that is contributing to my frustration. I guess the reason camping as a kid was so fun was because my Dad got everything ready and we just went along for the ride.
I hope the kids like camping. They have never been before and my wife and I haven't been in years. It has the potential for being fun and relaxing, but it won't take much to change that. I am hoping that the kids won't be afraid of the sounds and darkness and the bugs. I was when I was little, so I am thinking they will be also. I bought flashlights and glow sticks for everyone to try and ease that fear. I wish we could bring my dog, but I don't think there will be enough room in the van this time. Our next trip we will definately take the dog though.
I am hoping the boys don't act up too much and annoy the other campers. They have a habit of screaming at eacher and fighting over toys. Hopefully being outdoors where it is cool instead of 110+ outside will calm them down.
I must admit that I am somewhat excited about camping after not having been for so long. I just hope that I have the patience to last through the weekend.
