Today dawned overcast and on the verge of rain. The weather was not unexpected because of the news reports. Although no rain was forecast, the conditions outside, including a few sprinkles here and there, would suggest it. Well, on my way home from dropping the kids off at school, as the road ascended above the town, the surrounding mountains came into view. And what a view it was. The clouds bathed the area in a grayish light, but over the mountains, the clouds parted letting sunlight stream down upon them so that they were in vivid color and in stark contrast to the surrounding area. It was a very beautiful sight.
Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera with me. I have been telling myself to start taking a camera when ever I go out but I never do. And this morning, I reaped the consequences. A perfect shot missed because of my forgetfulness. By the time I got home, the clouds had closed back up and the light was gone and so was the moment. I will be kicking myself for missing that picture for a long time. I hope others saw that beautiful sight. It showed how beautiful the world can be in spite of how gray or bleak things may seem.
I guess that is just a reminder to me that life is unpredictable and when a great opportunity presents itself, be prepared to take it because it won't last long and when it is gone, it is gone.
