This is a post from my blog One Man's Opinion. I may be violating blogging etiquette by re-posting it in this manner, but it is from a long time ago and I thought it rather humorous and relevant since this blog is about raising my kids.
When I was little, my older brother and sister taught me two bad habits. According to my wife, they are both strange. I have never heard of anyone other than my family doing them, but then again, I never asked around either.
The first bad habit was table salt. My older brother and sister used to pour an amount of salt onto a small piece of foil and then wrap it up and suck on it. Sounds crazy, I know, but it is true. And I also engaged in that bizarre habit or ritual, take your pick. I stopped when one day while sucking on my ball of salt, I swallowed it. Scared me to death. Maybe I will develop some sort of mental problems because of the foil.
The second, and still active, is the act of eating bouillon cubes. Maybe I have an addiction to salt. When I was a kid, again my older brother and sister would sneak a palm full of crushed bouillon and share it with me and my younger brother (who also eats bouillon cubes). I guess the little granules of bouillon were not enough because they moved on to whole cubes, as did I. They don't engage in that activity anymore as far as I know, but occasionally, I do. I am overcome by an urge to suck on a cube once in a while. Beef flavor of course.
But these days, I can't find hard cubes. They are either low sodium or fast dissolving..Yuck! Sometimes I will even eat sea salt if it comes in little chunks...maybe my wife is right. I am crazy. Maybe I am the only one in the world that does this. Maybe I am the product of an alien abduction.
This is One Man's Opinion.
PS. Don't worry, I am not passing this on to my children.

You are not alone!!! I still partake in my "bouillon addiction!" I also am not passing it along to my child . . . . we're a dying breed my friend.
