Yesterday, when I picked my kindergartener from school, she said that one of her classmate's dad (who was a local firefighter) came in to talk to the kids about fire safety.
She told me about crawling on the ground in a fire so you can breathe or you will die, she said to have an escape plan and how "when you get out of the house you need to tell the firefighter where your brothers, sisters, mom, dad and the pets are so they can save them. I told them about kitty Girl but not Kitty Boy because he is mean and he will die in the fire then God can take him up, up, up to Heaven."
I was very surprised to her her say that. I was both shocked and humored. I couldn't respond to her statement. It was one of those "I have to tell my wife about this!" moments. She can be a really nice and sweet girl when she wants to be, but once and a while, she will throw out a zinger like that. I am sure that there will be others to follow.
There is never a dull moment when you have kids.
