Well, I made it through Halloween alive. It was a pretty tiring night for the kids and me as well. First, my two boys had a book parade at the park with their school where they got to wear costumes of characters in books. Z was Superman and J was a pig along with his class. They said they had a lot of fun.
When they got home, we got their other costumes on along with their three sisters. I didn't have a costume so I came up with a last minute idea. I put on my pack that I use for hiking, a fishing vest, hung a compass around my neck, and a walking stick and went as a hiker. It wasn't that good of a costume, but at least it was something...my attempt at getting into the Halloween spirit I guess. Z was the grim reaper, J was a ninja, Z was a princess, M also was a princess, N was an angel, H was a witch, and of course I was a hiker.
M's family came by and we took some pictures and then we headed out. We first went to the nearby Indian casino. They were having free food and games for the kids. It was actually pretty good. The kids had lots of fun and it was safe. Then we went over to the park where they were having "trunk or treat". Numerous organizations were represented and handed out candy and other items. This event wasn't so much fun. The place was packed and the line to get to the booths for handouts was huge. I mean really huge. It took us about an hour to get in and then a number of the booths had run out of stuff to give out. By that time, they closed it. Then we had to walk all the way back to our car. H, my youngest daughter was too tired to walk, so I had to carry her which was difficult. But we all made it back home safely.
The kids were really tired so they didn't stay up long after getting home. All in all though, it was not a bad night for kids or parents.
