I checked the outside thermometer when I got up about 8am this morning. It showed 32deg. It has been a long time since I have been that cold. Since college. At least it is sunny out. Maybe the kids will be able to finally go outside. They have been going stir crazy having to stay inside.

I got to go out with M last night. It was nice to be able to do something that didn’t involve the kids or work. We went to lunch, shopping and then to see “The Guardian”. It was a pretty good movie. I looked over at M a few times and caught her eyes tearing up. I admit there were a few sad parts, but I easily resisted the urge to tear up.

We discovered a major flaw, probably obvious to others, in the way we put the kids to bed. I guess I knew that it was probably not the right way, but when we started, it was easy. When we put the boys to bed, we would put in a movie in their DVD player so they would sleep. For a while this worked, and M and I were able to get some time without the kids before we went to bed. Lately though it wasn’t working. After putting the boys to bed, J would come down stairs repeatedly for different reasons like he needed a drink our he would try and sneak something he wasn’t supposed to have.
