Naked Dolls

I don't know about other girls and how they play their with dolls, but my girls seem to like theirs in the buff. When they get a doll, whether it be for their birthday, Christmas, just because, new or used, within a day or so, the chances are pretty good that my wife or myself will find it sans clothing. This problem is not limited to their girl dolls. We have found a few Ken and generic Ken dolls that are missing their shirts.

The doll manufacture takes great care designing a particular doll and its outfit, especially if it is a Barbie doll by Mattel. The outfit and accessories usually follow some theme like for a party, a day at the beach or fashion show. Usually the clothing is designed such that it can be mix and matched with other clothing and put on other dolls in the same line allowing girls to express their creativity and imaginations.

Disclaimer: For my girls, it seems that the clothing just gets in the way of their playing and acting out various scenarios. Mind you, the scenarios are innocent and seem typical for girls their age. The lack of clothing is not part of their made up situations.

I should probably ask my sister-in-law if her three girls did the same with their dolls, if they even played with them on a regular basis. Maybe a little research is in order. If I had time that is. But I don't, so I will just go by what my daughters do.

I have taken away the dolls that are totally naked and told them that they need to keep the clothing on. I don't mind if they swap clothing as long as they keep them dressed. I return the naked dolls and watch as they are carefully dressed and play continues. Then, again, after a period of time, these same dolls are found naked.

I have asked them why they take the clothing off their dolls and they respond with the classic, "I don't know." response.

I don't know how to solve this issue or that it even should be solved, but I don't like them playing with their naked dolls. It creeps me out.
