I hope I am not going to jinx it by writing about it, but there it goes. My daughter in kindergarten had been wetting her pants during school. Before school started, we received a supply list for her kindergarten class. At the end of the list it suggested that we put a change of clothes in her backpack just in case of "accidents" she would have some clean clothes to put on.
After a week or two of school, she had her first "accident" and had to use the clean clothes in her backpack. When we got home, I put in a clean set of clothes for the next time.
She did fine for a few months, but then she started wetting her pants on a regular basis just before I came to pick her up. I asked the teacher since this seemed to be occurring in the last ten minutes of class, if she could help remind my daughter to get to the bathroom. She was unsympathetic and uninterested in helping my daughter. She said he had too many kids to be able to get her to the bathroom despite having two adults who assist her in the class. She would rather have my daughter have an embarrassing accident.
After a while, there were no more accidents. I told my daughter that I was happy that she was getting to the bathroom and not wetting her clothes. Problem over...or so I thought.
I got a call from the school "nurse" one day saying that my daughter wet her pants and was in the nurse's office and to come bring her some clean clothes. I told her that per the school's suggestion, there was a set of clean ones in my daughter's backpack. "She told me there isn't any so could you come bring some clothes?" she replied. Wow, a real rocket scientist here. She didn't even look in the backpack...apparently it was too much work. I told her that I knew for a fact that there was a clean change of clothes and told her to look. She asked if I would answer my phone when she called back if there were none. I said yes and gladly hung up. She never called back and when I went to pick up my daughter, she had the clean set of clothes that were in her backpack. Imagine that.
So far, we have had several weeks of dry pants. Hopefully it will stay that way. I don't want to have to tell the "nurse" to check my daughter's backpack despite what my 6yr old might say.
I guess it wasn't in their school budget to hire a real nurse or at least someone with more than two brain cells.
