I am in a quandary over what to do with our computer and our suburban. Our computer is dead in the water, and our truck is also but is going to be fixed.

First, our computer. We bought our computer about five years ago with tax refund money. It has served us well up until last week when it failed to boot. My brother N has been working on it for the past few days to see if he can revive it. I was thinking if we should get a new hard drive and install Windows XP and use the old HD as a second internal drive or get a new computer and use the old HD as an external. Another option is just to get a laptop and use the old HD as an external. I don't know what to do. The situation is similar as with our suburban.

The mechanic said it will cost over $500 to get our suburban going for local driving only. To get it for OTR travel we would have to put in a used engine at a cost of $2,500.00, plus or minus. Do we just save for a newer vehicle or save to fix this one? I don't know the best answer either or if there is a good answer. I really hate not knowing what to do. It is in my top 5 things that bother me the most.
