First Snow of the Season

This morning I woke up to a light dusting of snow. The first of the year season. It wasn't much to look at but enough to cover the street and part of the yard. It was gone by 10 am though.

When my two youngest daughters got up, they came in search of me as usual. They always go to the back room where I am usually on the computer first thing in the morning. It is the only time that I can get on before the rest of the kids get up and I have to start their school. Anyway, I told them to look out the window. They both ran to the window and opened it. Upon seeing the snow, they broke out in elated cheers. Jumping up up and down, they turned to me yelling, "Santa is here! Santa is here!"

"No, Christmas isn't for a few weeks," I said.

"But he comes when it snows," my five year old daughter said.

“Look! There are reindeer tracks! I see them!” said my almost three year old daughter.

“I see them too!”

(They were actually made by our dog when she went out to do her business earlier.)

“No they aren't. They are probably made by a wild pig. We do live by the wild.” my seven year old son chimed in.

I couldn't help but laugh.

Kids are great!
