Kids Keep Bugging Me

I guess that kids, boys especially, and bugs go hand in hand. As far as I can remember, I didn't have an obsession with bugs. Maybe water bugs, but my two boys seem to have a fascination with all bugs.

They have mastered catching grasshoppers, while in Missouri, the loved lady bugs, water bugs, and fire flies. Here, they love to catch the small grass hoppers and give them to the cat to play with and eventually eat. They get a big kick out of it.

The other day, they were playing in the back yard after school and after a while I could no longer hear them. So that usually means they are up to something they are not supposed to be. So, I looked outside to see them on the porch with a bug on my daughter's trike. I went out to see what kind of bug and saw to my horror that it was a young tarantula. They were poking at it with a stick and by that time it was pretty mad. I couldn't get it off the trike seat so I had to kill it. They were also playing with a brown praying mantis at the same time.

I just don't know what the attraction is to bugs. All I know is that it the thought of them getting a hold of something could really hurt them really bothers me.
