My nine month old daughter, who is now an expert crawler, is beginning to venture in to the arena of walking. Right now she crawls very well, and very fast I might add. She prefers to pull herself up using the chair, couch or even me and stand and walk along using these things to hold on to. But I have seen her several times now, let go and balance herself. When she does so she gets real excited and a smile on her face. I would like to see her do that more and more. Her two older brothers can't seem to wait till she is walking.
In this respect, being able to watch my children develop and spend time with them, I am very glad that I became a stay-at-home dad. It has been a very rewarding, though sometimes very frustrating, experience. I wouldn't want to go back to work (unless I had to) and leave my kids.
Even though I have seen my two sons go through the trials of learning to walk, I am still amazed watching my daughter go through this as well as growing up in general. It is a most wonderful experience for me. I feel sorry for parents who don't get a chance to experience this. Especially those who are sacrificing their time with their families and their lives to serve their country.
