I am a slow learner.

While reflecting on my failings as a parent and father, I realized one of my problems is that I think I expect too much from my younger children. Not that I don't they are smart, but I expect them to act and reason like they are older...probably a lot older.

One sore spot for me (I can't figure out why) is meal time. They are just like any other children their age. They spill food, get it on themselves, on the floor. That is what they do while learning how to eat with forks, spoons and to drink out of a cup.

My wife watches baby shows and adoption shows on tv and their kids make more messes than my kids and I don't think they get as upset about it as I do. I guess I need to learn to accept it and just buy extra paper towels knowing they won't be this way forever.

I hope that I won't fall too far behind, because they are growing up fast and I am afraid that I won't be able to catch up.
