Becoming a Stay-at-Home Dad

A year ago this past February, I was working as a Graphic Designer at a print shop. Not exactly where I thought I would be seven years after getting my degree in Visual Communications, but it was a job. Though I liked working, I couldn't stand the place where I worked. But I don't think many people really love where they work. Anyway, my wife and I worked opposite schedules so that we didn't have to put our kids in daycare, which I was happy about.

After looking over our finances and talking about what we wanted for our kids, we decided that it would be better for me to stay at home with the kids and my wife would work more hours. And hopefully I would be able to do some freelance design from home. I was so happy that I wouldn't have to go to that place to work again and happy that I would be able to spend more time with my children. I also knew that it wouldn't be easy transitioning from a working Dad to a stay-at-home Dad. I actually had no idea how hard it would be. And even though I have been at this for over a year, I still haven't got the hang of it, but I think that my children are better off with a stay-at-home parent and I am happy that my wife and I made this decision. I don't regret it in the least...even though it is the hardest thing I have ever done, it is the most rewarding.
